Salmon Falls Cabinetry

I started Salmon Falls Cabinetry after deep discussions with two friends I met at contractortalk.com. Both have very unique businesses, but very different ways of looking at custom cabinetry as a business.

One has in house CNC capabilities, the other has a background in woodworking and finishes unlike anyone I have ever met. Both have freely offered their opinions and advice and I have incorporated both into my business model.

My personal philosophy that I incorporate into Whitten Custom Carpentry and Salmon Falls Cabinetry is "set the highest standard". I am never one to purchase inferior tools or products and I would NEVER expect anything less from my clients expectations of the woodwork, cabinetry and craftsmanship I provide.

My "product", if you will, is bestowed upon people who see value in what I produce. I do not skimp on any product that I purchase to produce cabinetry. This covers every nook and cranny of cabinetry.

My standards would be difficult to achieve by any manufactured cabinet company. I use only the best. Blum Tandem soft close drawers, Blum soft close door hinges, 3/4" thick Columbia Forest Products plywood(manufactured in North America using GREEN certified adhesives), 5/8" thick dovetailed Hard Maple or Tiger Maple drawers, conversion varnish finishes for the ultimate durability, custom profiles for crown, cove, light rails and mouldings(not the same old bland crown), inset doors with beaded face frames, detachable and custom wrap returned toe kicks for easy accessibility underneath, custom countertop heights, no particleboard ANYWHERE, 7/8" thick doors for the ultimate in solid and durable custom cabinetry, and the most pleasant and professional person on the job installing the cabinetry.

For over 25 years, I have been heavily involved in my passion of woodworking. "Carpentry" is a pretty general description of what the public views someone who works with wood. While that is in no way bad to describe anyone, modern day carpentry is quite diverse and has many specialties.

For over 25 years I have had an insatiable appetite for improving and honing my skills. I never waste my time fearing of competition. My concern is "What am I doing to be the best that I can be?" To continually refine systems, applications and contribute with my fellow tradesmen.

If you want to categorize what it is that I exactly do as a "carpenter", I guess I would suggest that you may consider me a cabinet maker first, then continue onto custom staircases, cabinet installation, millwork installation (crown, box beam ceilings, columns, mantels).

My past projects have included Spanish cedar garage doors, Maple day bed, vanities, medicine cabinets, Walnut countertop, historical porch, classical painted entrance moulding, a band stage for a pretty rough crowd in the old Port, 10' high wainscot at a private golf course, a commercial mahogany bar, tiger stripe Maple library, New England style cupola, circular staircase, and one of the nicest dang sheds you have ever seen! That is what I have been doing for the last 3 years. What is it that you dream of? I've always wanted to make a Morris chair. Ohhhh....the ultimate in comfortable chairs!
